PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION

Probiotics are live micro-organisms {bacteria and yeast) which when administered in adequate amounts result in a health benefit for the person taking them.

1. Lactobacillus acidophilus

Supports digestive and immune health, is acid and bile resistant and provides long lasting colonization*

2. Bifidobacterium lactis

Promotes a healthy inflammatory response including allergy response and supports the growth of other beneficial bacteria*

3. Bifidobacterium longum

Promotes a healthy stress response and may reduce gastrointestinal symptoms*

4. Bilidobacterium bifidum

Supports healthy blood sugar levels already in the normal range and may help alleviate gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea*

Echanism of Action:

1) Probiotics:

There are multiple theories regarding the mechanism of action of probiotics.

The following three categories have been identified:

Helps to enhance and strengthen the reaction of the immune system in the gastro¬intestinal tract against harmful bacteria.

b. Enhanced epithelial barrier function

Helps to ensure a healthy bowel lining, preventing harmful bacteria from invading the epithelium.

c. Anti-microbial effects

Helps prevent bacterial adherence to and infiltration of the bowel lining.

2) Beta 1,3 Glucan: Beta Glucan modulates or activates but never stimulates the immune system.

3) Zingiber officinale:

A highly potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent that helps to relax the smooth muscles in the gut lining and helps with digestion promoting a healthy gut, relieving gastro-intestinal pain, nausea and facilitates the healing of ulcers.

4) Perilla Leaf extract: Human in-vitro and ex-vivo studies showed:

Helps improve Gastro-intestinal symptoms such as occasional bloating, gas, fullness and abdominal discomfort

Supports digestive health

Helps with transit of food through your gut

Helps support a normal inflammatory response in your gut

Helps improve daily regularity

The mode of action appears to interact with your neurological system and counteract the effects of stress and other psychosocial factors via your gut-brain axis!

) Folic acid: is a group of water-soluble B vitamins that helps to control gene expression and protect against rogue cells multiplying into cancer. Because the wall of your gut is perpetually renewed as new cells get pushed to the surface and old cells slough off into your digestive tract, you need nutrients to safeguard this replication process. Folate helps to control inflammation.

6) Vitamin D3: Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to a number of gut disorders, including:

Diverticulitis

Inflammatory bowel disease

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

Vitamin D3 also acts as an anti-bacterial in the gut and wards off infection.

7) Zinc Gluconate: Zinc activates digestive enzymes, ensuring your meal is fully broken down and used. Zinc also strengthens the barrier of the gut wall, making it an indispensable trace mineral for those with leaky gut.

8) Selenium AAC: Selenium is an antioxidant mineral. Selenium is found in antioxidant enzymes that minimize the damage of free radical stress and reduce inflammation. Selenium is also needed to make active thyroid hormone.

9) Manganese AAC: Manganese “turns on” the enzymes that break down carbohydrates, amino acids and cholesterol.
